Patient Safety Dashboard
Patient safety is a top priority for Missouri’s Hospitals.
MHA and the Hospital Industry Data Institute are reinforcing our commitment to help Missouri hospitals improve patient safety and quality outcomes. To support hospitals in meeting the new CMS Patient Safety Structural Measure that took effect Jan. 1, 2025, we have developed a new Patient Safety Dashboard within the HIDI Advantage Care Optics® portfolio. This complimentary, interactive tool provides key patient safety and quality metrics, benchmarking capabilities, and insights to help hospitals identify best practices. It also will enhance MHA’s advocacy efforts by identifying statewide resources needed to support hospital-led safety initiatives.
As part of the FY 2025 final rule, CMS is requiring hospitals participating in the Hospital Inpatient Quality Reporting (IQR) program to report on the Patient Safety Structural Domain Metrics. Why? Structural domain metrics provide a way for hospitals to address a topic for which no outcome measure exists. CMS expects that by attesting to these metrics, hospitals will develop evidence-based programs and processes to support the improvements in high-impact areas. CMS created five domains for measurement:
- Leadership commitment to eliminating preventable harm.
- Strategic planning and organizational safety.
- Culture of safety and learning health systems.
- Accountability and transparency.
- Patient and family engagement.
ACCESS NOW
Authorized users of HIDI’s Care Optics Business Intelligence platform can access the suite of dashboards by logging in to the HIDI Advantage User Portal. The dashboard displays key metrics derived from hospital claims-based quality measures, as well as infection measures reported through the National Healthcare Safety Network. To integrate NHSN data, your hospital must grant HIDI access via ‘NHSN Confer Rights.’ If you log in and do not see your institution’s NHSN data, please contact HIDI for assistance navigating the set-up process.
REQUEST ACCESS
Complete HIDI’s contact form and indicate that you’d like access to your Patient Safety Dashboard through Care Optics to initiate the process. A member of the HIDI team will follow up by sending an authorization form to the email address provided, which will need to be routed to the hospital CEO for authorization.
