Strengthening Missourians’ Health Care Through Data

Data provided by Missouri hospitals each year plays a vital role in shaping health care for Missourians. A collaborative effort between the Missouri Hospital Association, American Hospital Association, and Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, the Annual Licensing Survey is a critical data collection effort facilitated through the Hospital Industry Data Institute required for hospital licensure and financial reporting under 19 CSR 10-33.030. At the same time, this survey data benefits hospitals and their patients far beyond its role in regulatory compliance. 

Why Survey Submission Matters

Full participation by all Missouri hospitals ensures there’s enough reliable data available to drive meaningful change. The information collected is used by MHA to:

Advocate for hospital funding and policy improvements
MHA uses this data to influence state and federal policies that impact hospital operations, financial support and regulatory changes. Participation in the Annual Licensing Survey strengthens advocacy efforts by offering a comprehensive perspective of Missouri’s health care environment, along with each hospital’s unique role within their community. 

Support hospital workforce planning and development
The Annual Licensing Survey data provides insight into staffing levels, workforce shortages and hospital capacity, helping develop programs and policies to address Missouri’s evolving health care workforce needs.

Enhance quality improvement and patient care
By benchmarking hospital performance and identifying key trends, the Annual Licensing Survey data helps inform hospital-specific and statewide initiatives aimed at improving care delivery and patient outcomes.

Every hospital’s participation ensures accurate, timely data that drives decision-making at the state and federal levels, ultimately benefiting hospitals, health care workers and the communities they serve.

Survey Completion and Submission 

Submission Deadline: June 18, 2025.  

1. Log in to the HIDI Advantage® User Portal 
   • • Navigate to Advantage Analytics > Surveys
2. Download your hospital’s survey file
   • • File Name: MOxxxx_2024ASF.xlsx
3. Update your hospital’s information
   • • Previous year’s data is prefilled in green
     • Enter current data in the yellow-highlighted fields

If your hospital’s financial data has not yet been audited, please notify HIDI at asf@mhanet.com.
