Active Shooter Resources Available For Hospitals To Promote Safe Care EnvironmentsStaff Contact: Jackie Gatz This week is Healthcare Security and Safety Week, and MHA is sharing resources to support Missouri hospitals’ efforts to create safe environments to both deliver and receive quality health care. In light of the increased instances of active shooter situations recently impacting our nation, MHA compiled health care-specific resources to assist hospital staff with responding appropriately. In addition to a training video developed by the MESH Coalition, our resource library includes several federal resources to implement “Run, Hide, Fight,” the standardized, national approach for responding to active shooter incidents. IHO To Host Free Webinar On Optimizing Patient Flow Before Flu SeasonStaff Contact: Jackie Gatz or Toi Wilde The Institute for Healthcare Optimization is hosting a free webinar that will help hospitals better prepare for the upcoming flu season and share implementation strategies for optimizing patient flow. The webinar will take place from 11 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, Oct. 24. Registration is open. IHO’s recommended two-pronged approach to optimizing patient flow — described in Joint Commission Resources’ “Optimizing Patient Flow: Advanced Strategies for Managing Variability to Enhance Access, Quality and Safety” — involves the following.
