HIDI Releases Report On 2023 Average Hospital Charges For Medicare Patients

DMH’s portal for submitting expenditures related to extended stays of qualifying individuals who receive services through the Division of Developmental Disabilities or Division of Behavioral Health in a hospital setting will close Wednesday, April 30. DMH’s memo, attestation form and expenditure submission form can be found here.
Additionally, hospitals should ensure they are enrolled in the new MissouriBUYS, powered by MOVERS, system to receive payment.

HIDI’s Average Hospital Charges for Medicare Patients Report, based on the 2023 Medicare Provider Analysis and Review file, is now available. The MedPAR file includes 100% of Medicare beneficiaries using short-stay hospital inpatient services. The report features FY 2023 hospital-specific detail on Medicare DRG cost components, utilization and ranks. It also includes a comprehensive set of reports and associated data files.
This report is available as an à la carte offering and as part of the Premier Reporting Package. For current Premier Reporting Package subscribers, the report can be found on HIDI Advantage®.

Michael Kelly has been named the next CEO of St. Luke’s Rehabilitation Hospital in Chesterfield, Mo., effective April 21. Kelly replaces Jim Whitacre, who was serving as the interim CEO.
APPLY: EDC Solutions will host a three-part Zero Suicide Academy later this year. Staff at hospitals and health care systems, including behavioral health, urgent care, primary care and specialty care health centers, are encouraged to apply to attend. The registration deadline is 6 p.m. Monday, June 30. Continuing education credits will be offered. DMH and the Missouri Behavioral Health Council are sponsoring this event.
LEARN: The KU School of Medicine-Wichita will offer a virtual course about substance use disorders Tuesday, May 20. The class will cover topics, such as prescribing opioids responsibly, understanding the psychology of SUDs and overcoming barriers to shared decision-making. Educational credits will be offered. Registration is open.
