Intervention for Nicotine Dependence: Education, Prevention, Tobacco and Health (INDEPTH)
Developed by the American Lung Association, INDEPTH™ is a free education program available for any school or community to establish to help teens make healthier choices. The program is a convenient alternative to suspension or citation that helps schools and communities address the teen vaping problem in a more supportive way. Instead of solely focusing on punitive measures, INDEPTH™ teaches students about nicotine dependence, establishing healthy alternatives and how to kick the unhealthy addiction that got them in trouble in the first place.
INDEPTH™ was piloted at 11 schools across the U.S. with 60% of student participants reporting that they were willing to quit using tobacco products after completing the program.
Not On Tobacco Teen Smoking and Vaping Cessation Program
The American Lung Association offers a natural complement to INDEPTH. Not On Tobacco® (N-O-T) is a voluntary teen-centered cessation program inclusive in addressing all tobacco product use, including e-cigarettes. Unlike other cessation programs which simply modify adult curriculum, N-O-T was designed with teenagers in mind and addresses issues that are specifically important to them.
This is Quitting Cessation Program
The Truth Initiative announced its “This is Quitting” cessation program for youth, which is specifically targeted toward youth vaping cessation.
ASPIRE Program
ASPIRE, released from MD Anderson Cancer Center, is a bilingual, online tool that helps middle and high school teens learn about being tobacco free.
