Rural Hospital Council
The Rural Hospital Council provides guidance on MHA’s policy development, advocacy and services for the rural hospitals and critical access hospitals statewide. Established in September 2011, the council’s work focuses on building rural policy and advocacy initiatives that have developed throughout the years. Through the council, MHA is better positioned to support strategic priorities and new services that will be essential to rural providers as they implement health care reform and adapt to the shift in health care delivery. The Rural Hospital Council provides two opportunities annually for members to meet in person – one in conjunction with the MHA’s convention in November and a second meeting during the MHA Leadership Forum in June. In addition, MHA convenes three conference calls throughout the year to provide a forum for members to explore and discuss emerging rural issues.
