AHA released its 2024 Health Care Workforce Scan, an annual snapshot of America’s hospital and health system employment based on reports, studies and other data sources from leading organizations and researchers. This year’s scan focuses on the following core challenges.

HRSA released a Notice of Funding Opportunity to increase the number of qualified nursing faculty nationwide. The Nurse Faculty Loan Program provides funding to accredited schools of nursing to establish and operate a student loan fund and provide loans to students enrolled in advanced nursing degree programs who are committed to becoming nurse faculty. In exchange for completion of up to four years of post-graduation full-time nurse faculty employment in an accredited school of nursing, the program authorizes cancellation of as much as 85% of the original student loan amount. Applications will be accepted through Feb. 5, 2024.

To enhance the range and quality of services available to Missouri hospitals, APS announced the addition of two new vendors.
AblePay Health helps providers dramatically improve collections while lowering out-of-pocket medical costs for consumers. Using a a unique patient financial engagement platform, providers are reimbursed within 14 business days at an agreed-upon rate for all out-of-pocket expenses incurred by AblePay-enrolled patients.
Bio-Electronics, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Nebraska Hospital Association, provides maintenance and repair for a wide range of medical devices, including general biomed, respiratory, radiology and laboratory equipment. Bio-Electronics currently serves nearly 300 hospitals, clinics and other health care facilities in Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wyoming.
