The DEA has a new one-time requirement that will require prescribers of controlled substances to complete eight hours of continuing education on safe controlled substance prescribing. The requirement, enacted in the Omnibus Bill of 2022, is part of the Medication Access and Training Expansion Act. Prescribers will be required to complete the CEs to receive or renew DEA licenses. A recent article provides additional insight.
