Following the recommendation of its Advisory Committee, the CDC recommended that all children ages six months through five years should receive a Moderna or Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine. The CDC ACIP is meeting Thursday, June 23, to review the recommended use of the Moderna vaccine in children and adolescents ages six to 17.

DHSS is expected to update and post Moderna and Pfizer standing orders by Wednesday, June 22. If hospitals preordered vaccine, deliveries should begin early next week. For those that did not preorder, the new vaccines are available on the DHSS vaccine order request form, and orders for delivery the week of Monday, June 27, must be placed by 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 22.

This weekend, DHSS and the Kansas City Health Department announced the state’s first probable case of Monkeypox in an individual who recently traveled out of state and did not require hospitalization. Confirmatory testing is being performed by the CDC. MHA published a compilation of Monkeypox resources for members.
