CMS released the final national snapshot of the 2023 Marketplace open enrollment period. CMS reports that 16.3 million individuals signed up for coverage, of which 22% are new enrollees and 78% are returning enrollees. The number of enrollees who selected coverage on the Marketplace from Missouri amounts to 257,629 individuals.

The FDA Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee is meeting Thursday, Jan. 26, to discuss future COVID-19 vaccine regimens. Specifically, the committee will discuss using the same vaccine strain composition (bivalent) for primary series and booster doses, simplification of the COVID-19 immunization schedules, and routine periodic strain selection processes. MHA will communicate any changes to current COVID-19 vaccine schedules following the committee meeting.

The Missouri DCI released its 2022 Nursing Workforce Report, which reveals that the majority of nurses licensed in Missouri are actively employed full time in their field or in a position that requires a nursing license. The report finds that very few nurses are unemployed and looking for work as a nurse, indicating there is a limited supply of nurses within the state available to meet the current need for nursing services. Missouri also has a high percentage of nurses that are at or near retirement age.
