The Missouri State Board of Nursing published an emergency and proposed rule allowing LPNs to push certain intravenous medications. The emergency rule went into effect Jan. 22 and expires July 19. Hospitals have until Friday, March 15, to submit comments.

Hospitals and health systems continue to face a myriad of financial challenges. To help maintain situational awareness of the fiscal health of hospitals and to gain operational insights necessary to help hospitals thrive in today’s uncertain economic landscape, the Hospital Industry Data Institute is launching Hospital Performance Insights, a new HIDI Advantage service offering.
Hospital participation in submitting quarterly data will strengthen MHA’s advocacy for the financial stability of its member hospitals, as well as provide participants with dashboards that visualize fiscally focused peer benchmarking information in common groupings, such as gross revenue, discounts and expenses. Equipping hospital leaders with this unique visibility into similarly sized markets, will enable fine-tuned decision-making informed by actionable, near-real-time insights.

MHA updated the acute care, critical access hospital and specialty services quality reporting guides to reflect requirements effective with Jan. 1, 2024, dates of service. The guides support hospitals with reporting quality measures through various reporting programs. Access the guides for direct sources of information and the most recent measure specifics.

DHSS announced its new Rural Primary Care Physicians Grant Program. The program provides funding of up to $200,000 to rural primary care physicians beginning practice after July 1, 2022, in a Missouri county with a population of fewer than 35,000 inhabitants in return for providing primary care clinical services in rural Missouri for five years. The application cycle closes Friday, March 15. For more information and instructions, visit the DHSS website.
APPLY: HRSA is accepting applications for the Nurse Corps Loan Repayment Program, which provides loan repayment to nurses in exchange for a service commitment at an eligible health care facility with a critical shortage of nurses or an eligible school of nursing. Applications are due Thursday, March 7.
