As part of the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021, Congress enacted the No Surprises Act, which protects against surprise billing. As CMS continues to implement NSA-related rules and regulations, the agency opened the independent dispute resolution portal and released updated IDR guidance. The online portal is to be used for resolving payment disputes between payers and providers for certain out-of-network charges.
