CMS issued a final rule with comment period about the maximum out-of-pocket limits for Medicare Parts A and B services. CMS requires Medicare Advantage plans to establish limits on enrollee out-of-pocket cost sharing for Parts A and B services that do not exceed the annual limits set by CMS. The final rule applies the provisions proposed beginning in contract year 2023. MHA published an issue brief with additional details.

CMS released a national policy for the coverage of aducanumab, brand name Aduhelm, and any future monoclonal antibodies directed against amyloid approved by the FDA with an indication for use in treating Alzheimer’s disease. Medicare now will provide enhanced access and coverage for people with Medicare participating in CMS-approved studies, such as a data collection through routine clinical practice or registries.

HIDI recently transitioned its business intelligence platform to a state-of-the-art Tableau-based offering, which provides enhanced data visualizations and insight, along with expanded search options. HIDI Advantage Optics currently includes access to two modules — Market Optics, released earlier this year, and Care Optics, which was made available to existing customers last week. With Market Optics, customers can analyze data for improved operational effectiveness, and patient communications and marketing. Care Optics provides enhanced quality metrics and data tools through risk-adjusted readmissions dashboards, risk-adjusted mortality reports and hospital-acquired conditions-related dashboards.
