JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — Annie Bass, Board Chair of Phelps Health in Rolla, Mo., has been honored by the Missouri Hospital Association as Trustee of the Year. Bass was presented the award on Nov. 2 at MHA’s 101st Annual Convention in St. Louis.
“Annie Bass is the right person at the right time for Phelps Health,” said Jon D. Doolittle, MHA President and CEO. “Working with members of the elected board and hospital leadership, she has helped reshape the culture at the hospital and strengthen the hospital’s connection to the community.”
Bass joined the Phelps Health Board of Trustees in 2020. As chair, she led initiatives to improve board governance, updated the hospital bylaws, strengthened the relationship between the board and the executive team, and advocated for patients and staff. She has a keen understanding of how health care boards operate and an intuitive nature for understanding people. Together, these skills have shaped her leadership, including challenging the board to find new ways to serve the community.
“I am thrilled for Annie to be recognized as the MHA Trustee of the Year,” said Jason Shenefield, Phelps Health President and CEO. “Annie’s leadership has strengthened and aligned our board to enable Phelps Health to move forward and become a better organization. I truly appreciate all she has contributed to Phelps Health.”
