Overview

On June 21, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration published the COVID-19 Health Care Emergency Temporary Standard. OSHA can issue an ETS if the agency determines that employees are subject to "grave danger” from exposure or agents determined to be toxic or physically harmful or from new hazards in the workplace and that an ETS is necessary to protect employees from such danger. OSHA developed this new standard alongside new general industry guidance, both of which align with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidance. Compliance with the provisions of these standards became effective July 6, 2021, and July 21, 2021.

Objectives

At the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:

    • outline COVID-19 workplace hazard plans
    • explain compliance requirements and provisions of the OSHA COVID-19 Health Care Emergency Temporary Standard
    • discuss potential implementation strategies for the OSHA COVID-19 Health Care Emergency Temporary Standard
