SAFETrack: Missouri’s Sexual Assault Kit Tracking System

Overview

This complimentary presentation will provide an overview of SAFETrack, a statewide sexual assault kit tracking system developed by the Attorney General's Office pursuant to the Missouri statute. SAFETrack will be launching in July of this year and will cover all organizations that handle sexual assault forensic evidence (SAFE) kits in the state of Missouri. As the evidence collectors for SAFE kits, health care providers will play a pivotal role in SAFETrack and this presentation will explain SAFETrack's design and use from a health care provider's perspective.

Objectives

Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:

    • explain the statutory and policy environment surrounding SAFETrack
    • understand SAFETrack design and be able to synthesize SAFETrack into their existing business operations

Wyatt D. Suling

Wyatt D. Suling is a native of central Missouri who studied economics, policy, and information management and technology at Syracuse University. During his studies, Suling developed an interest and experience applying data analysis to the issues of crime and security. After graduating summa cum laude in 2017, he returned to Missouri to work for the Missouri State Treasurer’s Office. In December 2018, Suling transitioned to the Missouri Attorney General’s Office as a Policy Advisor and began assisting with the implementation of the office’s 2018 Sexual Assault Kit Initiative (SAKI) grant among other duties. Suling assists the SAKI Site Coordinator with data analysis, strategic planning, and policy implementation while leading the office’s development of SAFETrack, a statewide evidence tracking system for sexual assault kits.
