Overview

This virtual event will review the important components specific to critical Current Procedural Terminology and Outpatient Prospective Payment System changes to their facility’s chargemaster(s) effective Jan. 1, 2025. 

Objectives

Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:

    • incorporate 2025 codes to individual facility’s chargemasters 
    • describe reporting scenarios for reporting new CPT codes 
    • identify impact of new reimbursement levels for APC payments 
    • be prepared for the HCPCS code revisions, changes and additions beginning Jan. 1, 2025 
    • understand the impact of status indicator changes for 2025 
    • understand packaging concepts impacting Medicare APC payments 
    • understand the 2025 coding changes for drugs, radiopharmaceuticals and contrast, and the impact on your reimbursement 
    • be prepared to improve new product implementation processes 
    • understand the importance of correctly billing Add-on IPPS payments for new technology devices 
    • be prepared to provide departmental-specific guidance in the proper reporting and utilization of the new codes 
    • understand CMS instructions regarding accurate units of service 
    • explain the importance of accurate revenue code assignment 
    • be knowledgeable of the impact of accurate and complete reporting of supply/device costs and future payments 
    • be knowledgeable of payment for new drugs not yet assigned a specific drug HCPCS code, and understand risk of billing nonformulary drug charges 

Note:  These objectives are based on past programs. The details of 2025 CPT codes and the OPPS Final Rule will be released in the fall.

Glenda Schuler has an extensive background in chargemaster, billing, operations, ICD-10-CM/PCS, DRG coding and hospital CPT-4 coding, and has more than 35 years of health care industry experience and expertise in all areas of health information, medical records, utilization review, patient access and business services. Additionally, she’s an expert in third-party reimbursement, electronic submission of claims, billing and collections, and revenue cycle solutions.

As a health care consultant, her areas of expertise include ICD-10-CM/PCS, DRG coding, hospital CPT coding, APC education/validations, charge capture and chargemaster reviews. She has developed and conducted coding and reimbursement seminars, and has been a featured speaker nationwide on the topic of Medicare ambulatory payment classification groups and their impact on hospital operations. She is an active member of the American Health Information Management Association and the American Academy of Professional Coders, and is a nationally featured speaker for the American Academy of Professional Coders, American Health Information Management Association, Vizient and Optum/Optum360.
