Quick Honored With Distinguished Quality Professional Award

Barbara Quick, M.S., R.N., Regional Director of Patient Safety and Quality at SSM Health St. Louis Region, was honored with the Missouri Association for Healthcare Quality’s Distinguished Quality Professional Award. The award was presented on Friday, Nov. 8, at the Missouri Hospital Association’s 97th Annual Convention & Trade Show in Osage Beach, Mo.

As a quality professional and nurse, Quick has made patient safety a priority for 40 years. She is responsible for oversight, planning, consultation and reporting of patient safety and quality functions for six adult and one pediatric ministry, and she works closely with seven regional ministries. Quick’s passion for quality is apparent in the processes she has developed to create a culture of safety at SSM Health.

Through Quick’s leadership, the SSM Health team has had zero adverse findings in six triennial surveys, and reduced preventable sentinel and serious safety events by nearly 40% in a single year. Her goal is to ensure that the SSM mission statement, “Through our exceptional health care services, we reveal the healing presence of God,” touches patients daily.
