Blue Cross Blue Shield agreed to a settlement to resolve an antitrust, class action lawsuit by hospital systems and clinicians. The settlement includes a $2.8 billion cash payment into a settlement fund. As part of the settlement, BCBS plans will implement 16 categories of transformational programming requirements, including timely communication and payment, transparent decision making and timely claims status updates.
MHA has partnered with MCAG for more than a decade to track, file and distribute class action litigation fund proceeds. MCAG will assess and file a complaint on behalf of hospitals who have enrolled in an all-inclusive contract.
CMS approved MO HealthNet’s state plan amendment to cover behavioral health integration services, including psychiatric collaborative care management, general behavioral health integration, and interprofessional consultation for behavioral health practitioners for dates of service on and after May 1, 2024.

Staff Spotlight
Congratulations to Jan Trachsel, Executive Assistant to the Senior Vice President of Strategic Communications and Marketing, on 20 years of service to MHA!
Jan joined MHA with several years of experience in management and customer service, skills that have served her well in her role. Organizing projects and duties, managing a busy meeting and travel calendar, and being a resource for hospital members and MHA teammates fills her “work cup.”
According to Jan, the people at MHA make the organization a wonderful place to work. “I truly enjoy working with such professional, kind people. I have made many wonderful friends at MHA who I will hold dear forever.”
Jan said she is most proud of her loyalty to MHA. “It has become rare to stay at the same company for a long period of time. I worked with the same SVP for 19 years before she retired last year and look forward to a long relationship with the new SVP.”
Building relationships is important to Jan. “I pride myself on getting to know those I work with so well that I can anticipate what they need before they even ask.”
Her life outside of work centers on her family. As of this October, Jan and her husband have been married for 33 years. They have three sons, one daughter-in-law (and hopefully another one soon) and two grandchildren.
“There is nowhere else I would rather be than spending time with my family and friends. We are always working on a family project or doing something fun together!”
Jan moved to Missouri from Denver with her parents, when she was 17 and a senior in high school. Her siblings soon followed with their families and now all 30 of them (Jan’s parents, siblings, nieces, nephews and kids) live within five miles of each other, except for one nephew who lives in Denver. Her family all own and operate small businesses, and they see each other several times per week.
