CMS Releases Proposed Rule Addressing CLIA Fees
MHA Distributes Preliminary Wage Index, Occupational Mix Data For Review

CMS released a proposed rule regarding the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act. The proposed rule would increase the certificate and additional fees, change histocompatibility requirements, revise personnel requirements, and change laboratory director qualifications and responsibilities. MHA published an issue brief with additional details. Comments are due 30 days after the date of publication in the Federal Register.

MHA published an analysis of the hospital wage index and occupational mix data that CMS will use to develop the FFY 2024 Medicare hospital wage index. Hospitals can review their hospital-specific data and submit correction requests and supporting documentation to the MAC until Friday, Sept. 2. This is the only opportunity to request revisions to your data. Subsequent requests for revisions are limited to mishandling of the data.
