Trustee Resources

Professionals at Business MeetingAs the health care landscape continues to change and evolve, business and community leaders serving on hospital boards must know what is expected of their hospitals to continue their missions in providing exceptional care to patients. Hospital board members see firsthand how the hospital’s presence in the community affects the livelihood of residents, as well as the community. MHA is committed to providing educational resources for trustees to develop the skills and knowledge that will allow them to make effective decisions for their organizations.

The Governance Excellence Certificate Program

Health care is in a period of rapid change. At times like these, it is especially important for hospital trustees to understand the issues facing their organizations. The Governance Excellence Certificate Program has been designed specifically for hospital trustees to develop the skills and knowledge that will allow them to make effective decisions for their organizations. This voluntary program gives Missouri hospital trustees the opportunity to earn a certificate in governance excellence from the MHA Center for Education.

MHA launched the Governance Excellence Certificate Program in 2011 to enhance hospital trustees’ skills and to equip them with increased knowledge of issues in hospital governance. To complete the certificate program, trustees are required to attend a day-long seminar and complete six of eight independent study modules.
