Report Highlights Hospitals' Benefit, Economic Impact
A new report from MHA found the state’s hospitals provided more than $1.6 billion in community benefit in 2006 — an increase of $500 million from last year’s report. More than $157 million of the increase was attributed to hospitals’ increased provision of uncompensated care, which is a reflection of the urgent need to address the problem of the state’s uninsured.

 

MHA Urges House To Act On Senate Bill For Insure Missouri
The Missouri Senate overwhelmingly passed Insure Missouri by a 30-4 vote. Despite passage in the Senate, House leaders have failed to take any action on Senate Bill 1283. Time is running out for more than 700,000 uninsured Missourians. Send a message to representatives today urging them to pass Senate Bill 1283 before it's too late.

 

MCE Program To Train Nurses As Preceptors To New Nurses
Dedicated and competent nurse preceptors are vital to the success of our health care organizations and to the retention of nurses in the nursing profession. Our mission is to take a proactive approach in the education and support of nurse preceptors. The Missouri Nurse Preceptor Academy is a training program for hospital registered nurses serving as preceptors to newly hired nurses. The MHA Center for Education is hosting 34 academies throughout Missouri in 2008.
