Join Us For MHA’s Annual Convention

MHA’s 102nd Annual Convention will be held Wednesday, Nov. 13, to Friday, Nov. 15, in Kansas City, Mo. Registration is now open, and I hope you will consider attending. You can save $50 on registration fees if you register by Tuesday, Sept. 3.

As a hospital trustee, your vision and strong community connections are essential to your hospital or health system charting a course into the future. This year’s convention theme is “Connections: Forging the Frontier of Health.” With Kansas City’s past, present and future as a backdrop, the convention will include sessions that frame how connections are at the core of hospitals’ work in service to Missouri’s communities.

I’ve always found MHA’s convention a place where ideas and opportunities take shape. This year’s program includes speakers and panels on some of the most important issues in hospitals and health care — the workforce, finance, technology and science. In addition, the 2024 event will have several “Industry Insights” sessions specifically of interest to hospital trustees.

I know you’ll find value beyond the ballrooms as well. There’s ample opportunity to connect with hospital leaders from throughout the state and build your network at the social events.

I hope you will join us in Kansas City as we look toward the future of hospitals, health and care.

MHA Publishes 2024 Workforce Report

Staff Contact: Jill Williams

MHA released its annual workforce report that publishes 2023 turnover and vacancy data from 128 Missouri hospitals for 33 hospital- and clinic-based staff positions. The data also are available for 10 workforce development regions.

Data from 2023 find a continued easing of the record-high vacancy and turnover rates experienced during the pandemic. Although this limited relief is good news for hospitals and the communities they serve, 2023 rates remain higher than prepandemic, historical rates. The report examines the current state of the workforce and highlights the ongoing challenges faced by today’s workforce as well as those involved in building the workforce of the future.

MHA Continues To Accept PAC Contributions

MHA Contact: Christy Carel

We already have received more than $50,000 toward our goal of $165,000. If you sent in your contribution — thank you! If not, we hope you will participate in this important effort.

PAC contributions support candidates who have a track record of helping hospitals and the communities they serve. These are legislators who helped us pass legislation related to the Federal Reimbursement Allowance and 340B Drug Pricing Program during this last legislative session, as well as new candidates who assure support for the issues that matter to hospitals and health systems. The 2024 campaign season is in full swing and we need your participation to help us bolster favored candidates close to election time.

If you and others in your organization would like to contribute, please do so online, or complete and return this form along with a check payable to HEALTHPAC. The campaign ends Monday, Sept. 30. For additional details, visit MHA’s website.

If you have questions or would like to request a report of your hospital’s contributions, please contact Christy Carel, MHA’s Director of Membership Services.
