There’s no end to the positive impact hospitals have on the health of communities. From jobs to culture to education to the environment, there is health in everything. MHA released a series of reports showing how Missouri hospitals are vital economic drivers.

Although it is common to think of doctors and nurses as the core of the health care workforce, dozens of other categories of health care workers support these caregivers. A strong health care workforce benefits individuals and communities through health care delivery and health improvement.

MHA’s 2019 workforce report focuses on the health care workforce and frames MHA’s economic development initiative. The first part of this report includes an analysis of Missouri’s current hospital workforce from MHA’s annual workforce survey, which compiles data from 135 Missouri hospitals. The second part examines the health care workforce needs through 2030. Along with the report, workforce data — collected by MHA-member hospitals, and 13 Kansas and six Illinois hospitals — are represented in 10 region-specific reports.
