The Departments of the Treasury, Labor, and Health and Human Services released an RFI about advanced explanation of benefits and good faith estimate requirements that were included in the No Surprises Act. The agencies already provided guidance about the implementation of the No Surprises Act, which included a delay in both the advanced EOB and GFE requirements. The RFI includes questions about how cost estimates and benefit explanations should be transferred within the health care system to patients, what regulators should consider when deciding whether to encourage Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources-based interfaces, and how the agencies should address related privacy concerns. Comments are due Tuesday, Nov. 15.
