MHA Weekly COVID-19 Update

for week ending september 14, 2022

This summary is intended to provide generalized situational awareness and regional COVID-19 surveillance in Missouri. More granular county-level data from the CDC should be used when making individual decisions about masking and other public health mitigation measures.

Before You Go

  • According to the CMS Medicare Telehealth Trends reports, Medicare telemedicine utilization has increased since the beginning of the COVID-19 PHE. There were 27,344,690 more Medicare telemedicine services performed from March 1, 2020, to Feb. 28, 2021, compared to the previous year.
  • In its MMWR, the CDC warns of a deadly class of synthetic opioids, nitazenes, which have been linked to deadly overdoses. Nitazenes increasingly are being added into heroin and street versions of opioid pills. Laboratory test results indicate that the potency of certain nitazene analogs greatly exceed that of fentanyl.
  • CMS issued updates to MLN Connects Provider eNews.
