United Healthcare is working to implement a laboratory test registry protocol. MHA, along with a coalition of other hospital associations, has been urging UHC to eliminate the protocol. Through FAQs, UHC announced that the laboratory test registry protocol is delayed until Jan. 1, 2022.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services finalized a rule designed to increase the availability of organs for transplant by requiring that organizations responsible for procurement be transparent and require them to compete on their ability to successfully facilitate transplants. The rule enacts reforms to the Medicare Conditions of Coverage for Organ Procurement Organizations. The changes to measures include donation rate, transplantation rate, transparent OPO performance, development of performance tiers and more. MHA published an issue brief with additional details.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services recently released an interim final rule “that will lower Medicare Part B payments for certain drugs to the lowest price for similar countries.” The Most Favored Nation Model participants will include physicians, nonphysician practitioners, supplier groups, hospital outpatient departments including 340B-covered entities, ambulatory surgical centers, and other providers and suppliers that receive separate Medicare Part B fee-for-service payment for the model’s included drugs. The Health Resources and Services Administration is accepting applications for the 2021 Advanced Nursing Education ― Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners Program. This program will increase access to physical and mental health care treatment for survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence. Grantees will train SANEs to practice in rural and underserved health settings.
Eligible applicants are accredited schools of nursing, nursing centers, nurse-managed health clinics, academic health centers, state or local health departments, HRSA-supported health centers, rural health clinics, and public or nonprofit hospitals.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture launched the AskUSDA Contact Center, a new program that will serve as the primary communication source for phone, chat and web inquires. Before the creation and implementation of AskUSDA, members had to navigate dozens of phone numbers and did not have access to a chat function or online platform for self-service, creating frustrations and inefficiencies. AskUSDA was created to make USDA more responsive to the public by providing a single destination for phone, chat and web inquiries.
