Congratulations to Rob Monsees, Division Vice President of Advocacy and Senior Political Advisor, on a decade of service to MHA!
In his role, Rob leads MHA’s advocacy efforts at the Missouri State Capitol while also advocating on federal issues from time to time. “I like to joke that I’m the head javelin catcher for MHA in the Capitol.”
During the Missouri legislative session, Rob heads MHA’s advocacy team at the state level as they tackle all of the issues important to hospitals. When the Missouri Legislature is not in session, Rob travels around the state, meeting with lawmakers to build political goodwill to help hospitals survive, thrive and prosper.
The people who Rob works with and for are what he likes most about his job. “Hands down, what makes our organization such a great place to work are the awesome people I get to work alongside at MHA. In addition, I get to work with the great people we have the privilege of advocating for who take such great care of our friends and neighbors across Missouri.”
The accomplishment that Rob is most proud of during his tenure at MHA is the quality of people he has had a hand in attracting to work at the organization. “Together, our team has accomplished so many great things over these past 10 years.”
Rob lives with his wife, Lisa, a pediatrician with Tiger Pediatrics, in Columbia, Mo. The couple has three children. Mattie, the oldest and a graduate of Baylor University, is a missionary in Thailand. Their son, Jake, who recently graduated from Texas A&M University with a mechanical engineering degree, is attending the Kanakuk Institute to deepen his knowledge of the Bible before starting his work life. Their youngest daughter, Gracie, is a freshman at Baylor University, studying apparel and textile design.
Outside of work, Rob is a die-hard Mizzou Tigers and Kansas City Chiefs fan, and he loves going to Mizzou football and basketball games. He also enjoys cooking while catching up on his latest crypto/bitcoin videos on YouTube.
In addition, did you know that Rob is in an ’80s cover band called Vertical Mattress, where he plays alto sax and harmonica? “We only play about two or three public shows each year, but we have an amazing following.”
