The Medicare Trustees released its annual report to Congress, which projects that Part A hospital trust funds will remain solvent through 2028. According to the trustees, the hospital trust fund outlook improved slightly due to assumptions that include stronger economic growth, demographic changes, and a shift of beneficiaries into private health plans and away from fee-for-service. MHA published an issue brief with additional details.

Terry W. Nichols has been named CEO of Cedar County Memorial Hospital in El Dorado Springs, Mo., effective May 23. Nichols served as the CEO of Iron County Hospital in Ironton, Mo., and also has served as interim CEO at several other rural hospitals. He replaces Angela Linden who served as interim CEO since March.
