MHD posted for public comment a Section 1115 Medicaid IMD exclusion waiver for adults with serious mental illness. The proposed waiver also would establish a qualified residential treatment program for children, as defined in the federal Family First Act as a Medicaid reimbursable service.
Comments may be submitted in writing or in person at hearings that are scheduled for Tuesday, June 28, and Thursday, July 7. Written comments must be filed with MHD by Friday, July 22. The waiver will be filed with CMS for review and approval after the 30-day comment period. If approved, the waiver will allow MHD to reimburse IMDs for adults ages 19 to 64 requiring acute inpatient care for treatment of mental illness beginning Saturday, Oct. 1.
