President Biden released his fiscal year 2022 budget, amounting to $6.011 trillion. The budget would assume a deficit of $1.837 trillion. Within the budget, the administration proposes to lower the cost of prescription drugs; improve Medicare, Medicaid and Affordable Care Act coverage; create additional public coverage options; and increase oversight and program integrity within the Medicare program. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services budget would be increased by $96 billion above FY 2021 to a total of $1.4 trillion. MHA published an issue brief with additional information.
