MO HealthNet published updated fee schedules for hospital outpatient services and for a number of physician, dental, behavioral health and rehabilitation services. The new schedules will be in effect for dates of service beginning July 1, however, the increases for provider services will be applied retroactively after the approval of a required Medicaid state plan amendment.

CMS released the CY 2023 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule payment and policy updates. CMS is proposing to make significant changes to the Medicare Shared Savings Programs to help struggling ACOs. Highlights of the proposed changes include:

CMS released guidance for hospitals on new infection control and antibiotic stewardship CoPs that were published in a final rule on Sept. 30, 2019. The guidelines are effective immediately.

MO HealthNet will implement quantity limits on short-acting beta agonists beginning Thursday, Aug. 18. Inhaler canisters will be limited to three every six months for adults, and nebulizer vials will be limited to 120 every two months for adults and children.

Missouri’s Department of Mental Health announced the rollout of its new Missouri Behavioral Health Connect (MOConnect) platform, which is designed to identify, unify and track all inpatient and outpatient mental health and substance use disorder resources in a single, common network. The network will be available 24/7 and will allow providers to facilitate rapid referrals and feedback, as well as collaborate and coordinate with other providers, hospitals, behavioral health centers, law enforcement and various community service organizations.
Providers will need to sign a subscription and business associate agreement with Bamboo Health to ensure data security within MOConnect. There is no cost for providers to participate. More information will be available as DMH continues to implement the project.

Jonathan Curtright announced he will be stepping down as CEO of MU Health Care, effective July 15. Curtright, who served as the CEO since February 2017, has accepted a position at a health center in Oklahoma. Nim Chinniah, Vice Chancellor for Health Affairs, has been appointed as the interim CEO while the university launches a national search for a permanent replacement.

Travis Capers, President of SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital – St. Louis, has announced his resignation. Capers has served as the President of the St. Louis hospital since March 2016. His last day will be Friday, July 15. An interim has not yet been named.

Joshua Gilmore has resigned as CEO of Iron County Medical Center, effective July 29. Cindy Sadler will assume the CEO responsibilities in the interim until a permanent replacement is found. Gilmore has served as CEO since February 2017.
