Today, HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra renewed the federal public health emergency declaration associated with COVID-19. By law, the secretary may renew the declaration in 90-day increments; therefore, the current declaration will expire Thursday, Oct. 13, unless earlier terminated by Becerra. HHS stated it will provide 60 days’ notice before termination of the emergency declaration.

Missouri general revenue collections for SFY 2022 grew by 14.6% to $12.9 billion. The record-setting total exceeded budget projections by nearly $1.5 billion, and drove the fund’s year-end cash balance to a record $4.9 billion. Strong revenue growth allowed the General Assembly and Gov. Parson to adopt a $12.5 billion GR spending plan for SFY 2023 that fully funds Medicaid expansion. The recent historic growth in GR collections is expected to moderate in the coming years as the effects of pandemic stimulus spending wanes. General revenues are projected to grow at a more moderate 2.1% rate for the fiscal year that began July 1.

Effective Wednesday, July 13, Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston, Mo., has announced a leadership change. Chris Strickland, who served as CEO since April 2021 is no longer employed with the hospital. The board has appointed an interim leadership team to manage the day-to-day business of the hospital. The leadership team consists of Linda Pamperien, chief financial officer; Courtney Owens, chief nursing officer; Bill Bridges, director of emergency medical services; and Jeff Gettys, director of projects and foundation. Wes Murray served as CEO for 18 years until his retirement in 2021.
