MHA clarified with DHSS that the federal waiver to suspend preadmission screening and annual resident review for 30 days allowing all new long-term care admissions to be treated like exempted hospital discharges will continue. As noted, this waiver will remain in effect through the end of the federal emergency declaration which, unless extended, is set to expire Sunday, Jan. 16.

Due to the end of the state of emergency declaration, the Missouri Board of Pharmacy issued revised guidance addressing pharmacists’ ability to order and administer COVID-19 vaccines under federal allowances. Hospital-specific pharmacy-related waivers expired with the end of the state of emergency.

HHS released its proposed 2023 Marketplace Notice of Benefit and Payment Parameters. The proposed rule includes updates to network adequacy standards, standardization of plan options, advancing health equity, enhancing the consumer experience and lowering premiums. Comments must be received by 4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27.

The Missouri Board of Pharmacy will be emailing pharmacy technician renewal notices at the beginning of March. Updates to addresses, name changes and email addresses should be submitted to the board by Tuesday, Feb. 15. Updates can be submitted online, via fax to 573-526-3464 or emailed to MissouriBOP@pr.mo.gov. If a name change is required, a copy of the marriage certificate or divorce decree is required. Technicians must include their name and license number on all correspondence to the board.

HHS, through HRSA, announced nearly $48 million in American Rescue Plan Act funding for community-based organizations to expand public health capacity. The Rural Public Health Workforce Program will address the need for more trained health professionals in rural communities through health care job development, training and placement. Grant awardees can use the funds to address workforce needs related to long-term effects of COVID-19 and health information technology needs. Applications are due by Friday, March 18.
