CMS announced that three innovative accountable care initiatives will provide quality care to more than 13.2 million Medicare beneficiaries in 2023, with more than 700,000 health care providers and organizations participating in at least one of the three initiatives.
- The Medicare Shared Savings Program is the largest initiative with 456 ACOs and 10.9 million assigned beneficiaries in 2023. The MSSP is intended to drive growth in participation, promote equity and advance alignment across the accountable care initiatives.
- ACO Realizing Equity, Access and Community Health has 132 ACOs with 131,772 health care providers and organizations providing care to 2.1 million beneficiaries. The ACO REACH is intended to increase access to accountable care in underserved populations.
- The Kidney Care Choices model has approximately 8,400 participating health care providers and organizations serving approximately 249,983 beneficiaries. The KCC model focuses on delaying the onset of dialysis and increasing access to kidney transplantation.
