Today, Gov. Mike Parson was sworn in by Judge Sarah A. Castle to a full term as 57th Governor of the State of Missouri. This will be Parson’s first four-year term. During his speech, Parson remained optimistic for the future saying, “As we closed the chapter on 2020, we all had time to reflect. There were sad times, tough times and exciting times. And through it all … Missourians prevailed. Despite the challenges, the heartbeat of our state continues to pump strong.”
At a news conference, Parson said his focus for the new year will be fighting COVID-19, improving infrastructure, expanding telemedicine, dealing with the “Wayfair” tax and expanding Medicaid.
Lieutenant Governor Mike Kehoe, State Treasurer Scott Fitzpatrick, Secretary of State John R. Ashcroft and Attorney General Eric Schmitt also were sworn in during today’s inauguration ceremony.
