The University of Missouri Extension received a Rural Opioids Technical Assistance Grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration to focus on building capacity for Recovery Friendly Workplaces. RFWs foster a workplace culture that promotes employee safety, health and well-being through strategies that provide support for managers and employees, including reducing stigma and providing recovery resources relating to the challenges surrounding substance use disorders.
To empower businesses and employers to strengthen the workforce in Missouri through education and support opportunities, MU Extension, MHA, the Missouri Rural Health Association, and the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry are convening a statewide virtual conversation from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, March 18. During the conversation, topics will include the economic impact of opioid and substance use disorders in the workplace, as well as how businesses in Missouri can become RFWs. Online registration is available.
