MHA prepared an analysis illustrating the financial effect of the final rule to the Medicare IPF PPS federal payment and policy regulation updates for FFY 2023. In aggregate, Missouri will see a projected increase of 3.8%, amounting to an estimated $2.9 million. However, this rate increase does not take into account the Medicare sequestration payment reductions. The analysis includes a summary for the nation, Missouri, health systems and individual hospitals. CMS announced that the Medicare Shared Savings Program saved Medicare $1.66 billion in 2021 as compared to spending targets. CMS also reported that 99% of all ACOs reported and met the quality standard required to share in savings under the SSP. Approximately 58% of participating ACOs earned payments for their performance in 2021.

CMS posted Missouri’s application for an 1115 waiver of the Medicaid IMD exclusion for public comment. If approved, the waiver will allow psychiatric hospitals to receive MO HealthNet reimbursement for inpatient care for Medicaid-eligible adults. CMS will accept public comments on the waiver application through Friday, Sept. 30.

CMS email will be unavailable from 7 p.m. Friday, Sept.  2, through Tuesday, Sept. 6. All emails sent to “@cms.hhs.gov” during this period will receive an undeliverable message and will not be processed. This includes emails to the service center. If support is needed during the outage, CMS encourages hospitals to utilize the CCSQ Support Central Create a Ticket site. On Monday, Sept. 5, hospitals participating in hospital quality reporting programs will be able to create a service center ticket by leaving a voicemail at 1-866-288-8912. The service center will reply to the voicemail as soon as possible beginning 7 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6.
