MHA published an analysis that illustrates the financial effect of the calendar year 2023 Medicare Home Health PPS proposed rule. The analysis, which is available online for authorized users of HIDI Advantage® includes a summary for the nation, Missouri and individual hospitals. The financial implications include effects of the CY 2023 updates to the market basket, the productivity adjustment reduction mandated by the ACA, changes to the HHRG case-mix budget neutrality, changes to the wage index and impact of the patient-driven groupings model. The effect of the proposed home health rule will decrease payments in Missouri by an estimated 5.78%. Although footnoted, the analysis does not include the effect of the 2% sequestration. Hospitals have until Tuesday, Aug. 16, to review their hospital-specific data and submit comments.

The CDC updated its COVID-19 guidance to help the public better understand risk, how to protect themselves and others, and know what to do if exposed or infected. The CDC continues to encourage remaining up to date on vaccinations, replaced quarantining with mask wearing for those exposed and updated isolation recommendations for those that test positive.
