MHA will host a virtual session to provide an overview of the regulatory requirements under Missouri’s new earned paid sick time law, known as Proposition A, from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 22. The webinar will feature Loren Foy, Of Counsel attorney at Spencer Fane LLP, who will explore the substantive requirements of the law and the steps employers can take to comply. The presentation will discuss the following.

• legal challenges to the law and recent developments
• substantive requirements of the law and notice obligation
• minimum paid sick time benefits
• record-keeping requirements
• penalties for noncompliance
• options for designing a compliant paid sick time or paid time off policy

National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, an initiative aimed at removing unwanted, unused or expired medications from your home, will take place Saturday, April 26. Proper disposal helps prevent medication misuse and protects the environment.

Find a Take Back Day event near you by visiting the official Drug Enforcement Agency’s Take Back Day website, or use the DEA’s year-round collection locator to find a permanent drop-off location in your community.

The DEA developed a partnership toolbox with helpful resources including flyers, posters, social media graphics and public service announcements to support community outreach to promote the event.

MHA’s annual political action committee fundraising drive is underway and runs through Tuesday, Sept. 30.

MHA’s PAC, HEALTHPAC, and our partnership with the American Hospital Association Political Action Committee, AHAPAC, are the most effective ways to ensure hospitals have a united voice when decisions are made impacting the delivery of health care in Missouri.

The 2025 campaign goal for HEALTHPAC is $165,000, and the goal for AHAPAC is $52,700.

While no statewide elections will take place in 2025, raising funds for HEALTHPAC is still important this year.
