“Today’s announcements from President Trump declaring a national emergency, and Gov. Parson declaring a state emergency, are exceptionally good news in the fight to reduce the spread of the coronavirus in Missouri. The president’s announcement provides broad access to new tools for hospitals and the health care community to protect the public, care for affected individuals, safeguard caregivers and reduce the spread of the virus. As these new resources and authority are available, hospitals will be permitted to expand capacity in both urban and rural areas, and gain the flexibility needed to manage alternative care settings and patient surge. With Gov. Parson’s declaration, health care providers will have better access to supplies and continued growth in lab testing capacity.”
