Audience

quality directors, managers, and leaders that have been in their role for less than 18 months

Overview

This orientation series is specially designed for anyone new to a hospital-based quality director or quality department role. Those who have been in their role for less than 12 to 18 months will receive the greatest benefit from participating in this orientation.

Key topics will include an overview of:

    • the science of improvement, introduction into leading teams, analyzing and using data to promote process improvement, the culture of safety tenets, and leading and managing improvement teams
    • the critical tie between quality and finance
    • quality measure reporting requirements
    • key tenets of hospital-based risk management and compliance
    • the importance of peer review, credentialing and privileging
    • the bridge between equity and population health with outcomes
    • substance use disorder, treatment and recovery support
    • the significance of patient and family engagement integration
    • survey preparation and QAPI plans
    • hospital safety and hospital preparedness programs

Please note, this is a novice-level, orientation-based program to equip those new to quality roles with the base knowledge and skill set necessary to perform job requirements.
