Overview

This webinar will cover essential concepts for nurse leaders. A variety of professional development topics will be reviewed, including maintaining a well-developed curriculum vitae and the importance of advanced certifications. The webinar also will address strategies for developing oral and written communication skills and creating networking relationships. Finally, the need for personal and professional values and a long-term vision also will be discussed.


Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • describe ways to maintain a well-developed curriculum vitae
  • prepare effective oral and poster presentations
  • incorporate writing strategies for developing manuscripts
  • outline ways to network and develop professional relationships
  • evaluate personal and professional values and a long-term vision

Faculty

Kristy Chunta, Ph.D., R.N., ACNS, is a professor at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and has been teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses for more than 13 years. She currently teaches undergraduate clinical with senior nursing students, and master’s and doctoral courses that focus on professional role, teaching strategies, curriculum, evaluation, simulation and technology, informatics, and research. Dr. Chunta has provided oral and poster presentations at many national and international conferences. She also serves as the manager for the American Nurses Association’s Online Faculty Community and has provided previous ANA webinars addressing the unsafe student in clinical practice, successfully transitioning to a new role and surviving bullying in the early years. Dr. Chunta also has authored and co-authored a variety of manuscripts on research, professional development, clinical and teaching-based topics.


Continuing Education

Participants must attend the program in its entirety and complete an evaluation to receive a certificate of completion and continuing education contact hours.

  • Complete the CE Declaration form online by 11:59 pm ET Monday, March 11, 2019. Instructions will be provided. If you do not enter the online portal by the above date, you will not be able to retrieve your statement of participation.
  • Upon successful completion of the online form, your statement of completion will be presented to you to print.
