HIDI Tech Connect

February MUR Available On HIDI Analytic Advantage®

Data for the February 2020 monthly utilization report have been posted on HIDI Analytic Advantage and are available to download for distribution or placement in a network folder. HIDI Analytic Advantage PLUS has been updated to include this data. Contacts from participating hospitals have been notified by email, and they may download and save the Excel worksheet to a secure network location or PC. The data are encrypted on the site and also during the transmission from HIDI. Once the data have been transferred, it must be secured according to the hospital’s security procedures. March 2020 data are being collected now and are scheduled to be available Tuesday, May 5.

CMS Updates IP Specifications Manual Version 5.8

Specifications Manual for National Hospital Inpatient Quality Measures Alphabetical Data Dictionary, version 5.8, for the Hospital Inpatient Quality Reporting Program, has been updated and posted to QualityNet. Version 5.8 of the manual is for implementation with acute inpatient discharges July 1 through Dec. 31, 2020.

Abstraction guidance for the SEP-1 measure has been updated to allow the exclusion of patient cases with suspected or confirmed coronavirus or COVID-19 effective with discharges starting July 1. The updated guidance is in the Severe Sepsis Present data element and indicates to select value 2 for this data element if there is physician/APN/PA documentation that coronavirus or COVID-19 is suspected or present.

This Week Is Black Maternal Health Week

This week marks the third annual national Black Maternal Health Week campaign, founded and led by the Black Mamas Matter Alliance. The week includes building awareness, activism and community intended to deepen the national conversation about Black maternal health in the U.S.; amplify community-driven policy, research and care solutions; center the voices of Black Mamas, women, families and stakeholders; provide a national platform for Black-led entities and efforts on maternal health, birth and reproductive justice; and enhance community organizing on Black maternal health. A toolkit has been produced for community use and a week-long series of webinars are available as well.

Jacobs Announces Retirement From SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital – Audrain

Donna Jacobs, president of SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital – Audrain in Mexico, Mo., announced her plans to retire effective Friday, May 15. Jacobs has served as president at the hospital since January 2016. To ensure a smooth transition, Mike Baumgartner, president of SSM Health Mid-Missouri Region, Mida Sison-Martinez, vice president of nursing at St. Mary’s and Becky Miller, regional vice president of operations for Mid-Missouri, will be working with the team in Audrain to provide continued direction and support. A list of CEO changes is available online.
