University Of Missouri Announces Kidney Disease ECHO Webinars

The University of Missouri’s new Kidney Disease ECHO will offer free webinars on Thursdays from noon to 1 p.m. on the following dates.

  • June 20: Evaluating CKD Impact in Primary Care Practice/Population
  • July 18: Developing Practice Strategies to Implement CKD Care
  • Aug. 1: Diet and Nutrition
  • Aug. 15: Medication Management
  • Sept. 5: Cardiovascular Risk in CKD/CKD Risk in Cardiovascular Disease

The Kidney Disease ECHO will help primary care providers improve early detection of chronic kidney disease, co-management of CKD with diabetes and hypertension through best practice, understanding of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality, and management of complex CKD patients. Registration is required.

NIOSH Releases Guidance Document On Medication-Based Treatment For Employees

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health developed a guidance document addressing workplace safety when utilizing medication-based treatment for opioid use disorder. The publication includes guidance for employers to create safe work places for employees engaged in medication-based treatment. The document addresses items such as workplace safety while on medication-based treatment, side effects of medication-based treatment and ways to gain access to medication-based treatment. This useful tool will prove valuable to anyone serving in a supervisory or employer role.

The MHA Patient Family Advisory Council released a toolkit and getting started checklist to assist facilities in formalizing a patient family advisory council. Delivering patient- and family-centered care leads to better health outcomes, improved patient and family experience of care, better clinician and staff satisfaction, and wiser allocation of resources. HIDI has refreshed the readmissions, hospital-acquired conditions and AHRQ quality indicators data within HIDI Analytic Advantage® PLUS to include measure calculations based on discharge data from the first quarter of calendar year 2019.
