  • The MHA board adopted two resolutions on Friday — the first affirms hospitals’ support for many of Gov. Parson’s proposed investments in jobs, infrastructure and Medicaid payment reform. The second is in support of the American Hospital Association’s 340B Good Stewardship Principles.

MHA Supports APRN Legislation

MHA expressed support for Senate Bill 400 in a state Senate committee hearing on the bill. The legislation authorizes separate licensure of advanced practice registered nurses; currently APRNs are licensed as registered nurses with an APRN certificate. The bill also defines their scope of practice in the nursing licensure law.

Code Of State Regulations Adds Controlled Substance Rules

The Missouri Code of State Regulations was updated Feb. 28 to include, among other items, final rules 19 CSR 30-1.064 Partial Filling of Controlled Substance Prescriptions and 19 CSR 30-1.078 Disposing of Unwanted Controlled Substances.

Statewide PFAC Releases Vlog

PFAC Vlog: Part One
The Missouri Statewide Patient Family Advisory Council released the first installment in a new vlog series. Part one features Li Ern Chen, M.D., MSCS, and she highlights health care consumers, understanding patient needs and the benefits of informed patients.

Formed in 2017, MHA’s PFAC is comprised of patients, family members, patient advocates, hospital staff and providers in Missouri. One of only a handful of state-level councils in the nation, MHA’s PFAC is focused on increasing the role of patients and family members to improve health care delivery, health outcomes and reignite joy in work through improved patient-provider relationships.

CMS Updates Hospital Compare Data

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services February update to Hospital Compare and data.medicare.gov includes the following.

  • data for several measure sets on Hospital Compare
  • overall Hospital Star Rating methodology
  • addition of hospital payment measures for six common types of clinical episodes
