CMS Releases Marketplace Week 7 Enrollment

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services released marketplace enrollment data through Dec. 15. For the first seven weeks of the 2019 open enrollment period, 8,454,882 beneficiaries made plan selections in states where the HealthCare.gov platform is being utilized. Through the seventh week of open enrollment for 2018, 8,822,329 plan selections had been chosen. In Missouri, 222,621 beneficiaries made plan selections for 2019, approximately 9.3 percent less than the 245,580 plan selections through the fifth week last year.

Trump Signs Maternity Care Bill

President Trump signed a bill, H.R. 315 (115), that would modify a decades-old federal program that identifies counties without maternal health care providers and create incentives for OB-GYNs to serve them. “It is imperative that patients have quality, consistent access to maternity care — regardless of where they live,” said Rep. Michael Burgess, House sponsor and OB-GYN.

CMS Releases Addendum To 2018 OQR Specifications Manual

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services released an addendum to the Hospital Outpatient Quality Reporting Program specifications manual for encounters dated Jan. 1 through Dec. 31, 2018. Version 11.0b makes changes to measures OP-27 Influenza Vaccination Coverage Among Healthcare Personnel, OP-32 Facility Seven-Day Risk-Standardized Hospital Visit Rate after Outpatient Colonoscopy, and OP-36 Hospital Visits after Hospital Outpatient Surgery. CEO Announcements


I-70 Community Hospital Names Interim CEO

As of Tuesday, Dec. 18, Jeffrey Bloemker no longer serves as CEO of I-70 Community Hospital in Sweet Springs, Mo. Mike Reece, CEO of Fulton Medical Center, also will serve as Interim CEO of I-70 Community Hospital until a permanent replacement is named. A list of CEO changes is available online.
