MHA Launches Annual Safety And Preparedness Assessment

Staff Contact: Jackie Gatz

Yesterday, MHA staff disseminated the annual Safety and Preparedness Assessment to hospital staff responsible for emergency preparedness programming. MHA conducts this assessment of Missouri hospitals to appropriately direct strategy and allocate training and planning resources. This includes funding from the ASPR Hospital Preparedness Program, which continues to be utilized to provide each facility and region with competency-based education, training and regionally deployable equipment to increase preparedness and response capabilities. As current preparedness efforts are aligned with hospital quality, safety and business continuity initiatives, this information also will be used to support the direction of MHA's S.A.F.E.R. Initiative and workplace violence efforts. Staff are asked to complete the assessment by Friday, Dec. 21.

Two MHA reports were published in 2018 as a result of our previous survey.

Completing the eight-month intensive project, including in-person trainings covering the steps of Lean Six Sigma methodology, will result in a Green Belt certification. Each training will be followed by an implementation phase to apply the knowledge and skills learned toward a required hospital-based improvement project. The project is offered exclusively to Hospital Improvement Innovation Network-participating hospitals.
