State Senate Approves FRA Legislation

The Missouri Senate unanimously has approved Senate Bill 775, which reauthorizes the hospital Federal Reimbursement Allowance for two years. The bill also revamps a hospital safeguard in the FRA laws.

2017 To 2026 Projections Of National Health Expenditures Available

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Office of the Actuary released the projected national health expenditures for 2017 to 2026. The national health spending is projected to increase by 5.5 percent per year, which is 1.0 percent faster than the increase in the gross domestic product. Medicare is expected to experience the most rapid annual growth of 7.4 percent, largely driven by enrollment growth and increases in utilization. Private health insurance spending is expected to increase 4.7 percent, the slowest of the major payers. Medicaid is projected to increase 5.8 percent.

  • new option for submission of Medicare cost reports

RHG-C Acquires Cooper County Memorial Hospital

Rural Hospital Group Consolidated, a management company based in Kansas City, Mo., finalized the acquisition of Cooper County Memorial Hospital in Boonville, effective Wednesday, Feb. 7. Cooper County Memorial Hospital was renamed Cooper County Community Hospital following the acquisition. Mark Hirshberg, who served as interim CEO since March 2017, was named permanent CEO, effective Feb. 7. Hirshberg previously served 11 years as chief operating officer at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia. A list of CEO changes is available online.
