U.S. Senate Republicans Release New Version Of ACA Repeal/Replace Legislation

Staff Contact: Daniel Landon

U.S. Senate Republican leaders have released a new version of their proposed legislation to repeal/replace the Affordable Care Act. The bill is dubbed the “Better Care Reconciliation Act.” The significant change is to allow health insurers to impose a six-month waiting period on covering those who have a lapse in coverage lasting three months or more. The change would take effect in 2019. It would not apply to adopted children under the age of 18 or to infants. Senate Republican leaders are working to revise the proposed legislation to secure sufficient Republican votes to win Senate approval.
