The Missouri Hospital Association has honored Claude Cox, a trustee at Mercy Hospital Lincoln in Troy, Mo., formerly Lincoln County Medical Center, with the Trustee of the Year Award. He is the first recipient of the honor. The award was presented on Thursday, Nov. 3, during the Installation and Recognition Banquet at the Missouri Hospital Association’s 94th Annual Convention & Trade Show in Osage Beach, Mo.
Cox has served as a trustee for 48 of the 63 years the medical center has been in operation. He has served in numerous positions on the LCMC board, supports MHA’s grassroots efforts and promotes the hospital to the local community.
“Claude is a wonderful advocate for the hospital and an invaluable resource for guidance, leadership and support,” said Tony Rothermich, Administrator of Mercy Hospital Lincoln. “His long service to the hospital and community have made Troy and the surrounding communities stronger and healthier.”
During Cox’s tenure, LCMC opened seven clinics throughout Lincoln County and a home health agency, and received $10 million in general obligation bonds to renovate and add an addition to the medical center. Cox also helped LCMC convert to critical access hospital status and affiliate with Mercy East Communities.
